Michael Vick credits 18 months in a federal prison with changing him as a man.
The Philadelphia Eagles changed him as a quarterback.
Vick made three Pro Bowls in six seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, the team
that drafted him No.1 overall in 2001. But never in his time in Atlanta did he
complete better than 56.4 percent of his passes. He never threw more than 20
touchdowns. He averaged 1.1 turnovers per game in his 74 games there.
Vick has completed 61.9 percent of his passes in three seasons in
Philadelphia. He threw 21 touchdowns last season despite beginning the year as
Kevin Kolb's backup. He has reduced his turnovers.
In short, Vick went from a run-first quarterback to one who runs only when he
has to.
"It's become second nature now," Vick said in a conference call with the media
at Valley Ranch. "I only run when I have things break down. I feel like I've
always done that, but I've learned so much in the protection schemes and the
blitz pickup, I'm pretty much able to get the ball out of my hands and kind of
