Miscalculation Causes Plane To Suffer Massive Damage
An Emirates plane that recently tried taking off from Melbounre, Australia had its tail massively damaged when someone entered its incorrect weight into a take-off computer.
Human error was the primary cause of the problem according to the Australian Transport Safety Bureau who said that it all came down to a miscalculation of the planes weight and the power it needed to lift. The accident did not injury any of the 251 passages on the Airbus plane but authorities are continuing their investigations. Unfortunately a section of the flights data recorder was ripped off during the incident and was damaged, making the job of confirming the cause very difficult.
Three quarters of the runway had been covered by the time the plane had achieved full take off velocity. However, when the action was made to pull the nose into the air, nothing happened. The power to the engines was upped which raised the front end of the plane, but left the tail scrapping along the tarmac. As well as causing an indescribable noise, parts of the runway were practically destroyed and a great deal of damage was cased to the plane's rear end. Numerous runway obstruction light signs were wiped out and all the rear beacon lights on the plane were lost. When the captain managed to give full throttle, the plane lumbered into the air but it was too damaged to continue onwards. For safety reasons the planes fuel was dumped at sea and the plane returned to Melbourne airport.
Modern planes are fitted with lots of different computer systems and have miles and miles of habia cable that can go wrong. However, director of aviation safety, Julian Walsh has stated that it seems human error was the primary cause."nobody rechecked the flight information details after they were entered incorrectly first time round" said Walsh. Both pilots have now quit but they were praised for their calm and correct actions

Detroit: Lincoln teases 2013 MKZ on Facebook (Autoblog)
Filed under: Detroit Auto Show, Sedan, Lincoln, Luxury
Lincoln will debut its redesigned 2013 MKZ on Tuesday morning at the Detroit
Auto Show, but it's starting the strip tease today by posting a photo of what
appears to be the car's rear deck lid and full-width tail-lamp on its Facebook
page. The new MKZ will be a real test for how committed Ford is to
differentiating Lincoln products from the Blue Oval-badged vehicles with which
they share so many parts. We've already shown you a sneak peek of the 2013
Ford Fusion, which will be fully revealed first thing on Monday morning at the
Detroit show. We'll have to wait until Tuesday morning, however, to find out
how differentiated these two sister cars ultimately are.
