dry rotted spark plug wires ?

the rubber is rotted and it seems the metal ends on the wires dont attach securely to the spark plug heads because of it. Would this be a potential cause why my buddies truck is not starting ?? because he says drove it & parked it for 6 mnths and now it wont start...trying to get it fixed cheap lol

You park a vehicle for 6 months without taking steps and any number of issues can arise. Highest on the list is fuel. Most gasoline sold now can go bad in as quick as 30 days without a stabilizer. Six months is plenty of time for fuel to go bad. No surprise that can affect the fuel system related components.

Unless the truck has a 4 cylinder engine and the plug wires are real loose then you need to look past the plug wires. The electrical current will arc across to the plug end and fire anyway. May not be a full charge but will more often than not run.
