Sea Fishing Tackle Review: The Okuma Trio 40S High Speed Spinning Reel
Picture this: You’re standing on a windswept beach at dawn. You launch your lure into the waves expecting a catch just as many beautiful hues begin filling the sky. Not yet...not yet...not yet...here it comes - the challenge is ready to start! There’s nothing I relish more than just such a fight. I must confess that sea fishing is my preference - though all forms of angling are fun. A joy comes over me as I get together my sea fishing tackle. If you get equally excited, undoubtedly you pay a lot of attention to what fishing equipment you pack also. One reel I’m particularly fond of is my Okuma Trio 40S high speed spinning reel, and I’d like to share my thoughts about it with you.
Sea Fishing Tackle: Key Features of the Okuma Trio 40S High Speed Spinning Reel
The exclusive crossover design which incorporates graphite and aluminium is just one of the revolutionary attributes of the Trio 40S. The reel stem and rotor arm (a single aluminium piece) unite with an easy to carry rotor housing and side plates. The outcome? Extraordinary sturdiness in an incredible, yet light piece of fishing tackle. The spool uses a multi-piece construction to house the drag system in an aluminium chamber that lends incredible smoothness and stability. The housing, which is constructed from graphite, lessens the weight and also makes it look classier. The 40S’s longevity is reinforced through a process in which each piece (housing and internal) are coated; this is known as corrosion resistant coating (CRC). The reel won’t easily rust thanks to this metal-bonding coating. The anodised components are decorated in a stunning orange shade.
Sea Fishing Tackle: More About the Okuma Trio 40S Reel
One other aspect I admire is the 40S’s dual force drag (DFD) system. Using multi-disc drag washers that are comprised of felt and Japanese-oiled, it adds dual tension (top and bottom) to the spool, which increases the overall drag pressure. No doubt about it - the DFD is reliable and accurate. Additionally, the reel contains nine ball bearings, as well as a quick-set anti-reverse roller bearing; these play a role in consistent, quality throws and retrieves. Furthermore, I appreciate Okuma’s elliptical oscillation system (EOS), that works perfectly, resulting in even line lay, throw after throw.
Sea Fishing Tackle: Summing Up the Okuma Trio 40S High Speed Reel
The aluminium handle (forged), drag seal (waterproof), and rugged anodised bail wire (aluminium) all factor into the top quality look and feel of the reel. In addition, there is a rotor equalising system (RESII) that has been computer balanced. On top of that, I have discovered that the 40S comes with an incredibly long lasting, precision machine-cut brass pinion gear. The reel enjoys a 6.1:1 retrieve ratio, and also holds 170m x .30mm of mono filament line. Trio reels offer a one-year warranty. Who could want more from sea fishing tackle that can be purchased for roughly £60 to £70? I think not!
The Okuma Trio 40S high speed spinning reel is really a first-class little bit of sea fishing tackle that I happily advocate.

I know the BMW's are pricy to maintain but it has new clutch and fly wheel, new performance catalatic converter and O2 sensor. so kinda all most all the areas that the bmw's fail in that kind of millage has been taken care of. it's manual so dnt have to worry about the common automatic tranny frailer. cooling system, brakes, rotors, control arms and busings are my conserns... (correct me if im wrong). i know i might run up to some repairs in the acura too. Is maintainers in acura as expensive as BMW's, lesser? lesser like honda? what do you guys think??? anything is more than welcome!!
