Areas To Take Note Of In Building A Permanent Magnet Alternator
Knowing how to build a permanent magnet alternator is very essential because aside from not using any battery to generate power, it is conserving energy at the same time. If the field-wound alternator requires 40 watts in order to operate and energize the field, the magnet alternators doesn’t require any power to be able to produce energy and starts to run.
The stator which is one part of the alternator must be inserted into the rotor which is another part of the alternator. After inserting the stator to the rotor, accommodate the rotor to the shaft with the use of a sprocket and see to it that the sprocket is at the center of the inside of the rotor. Rotate the rotor on the shaft and then remove the shaft from the sprocket hub. In setting up the sprocket to the rotor, you are going to use a welder in which you also need to remove the clamps and re-insert the shaft which could allow you to rotate the rotor again.
You have to weld the sprocket and protect the magnets on the rotor with the use aluminum foil while doing it. There should be four even spaced holes drilled for the bolts to get into the stator. The bolt couplers with the screws should then be attached to the same side of the stator which will serve as the plug.
The aluminum or the wood blocks whould be aligned to the outside edges of the base with the help of the angle steel pieces welded to the base for the unit. Another set of four holes is needed to be drilled to serve as a guide in drilling tap holes from the plate to the wood blocks situated on the underside of the base and then screw one block into place.
On the outside of the stator which will be wrapped with masking tape, there should be a mounted bearing on the wood. Again enclose the stator to the center of the rotor sliding these two parts on the shaft. The shaft will then be slided to the bearing combining the other block and bearing.
Align the nut couplers vertically and horizontally with the baseplate by spinning the rotor and measure the distance between bottom nut couplers to the base and the two top and bottom nut couplers. Make sure that you mark the measurements because this is where each piece of angle iron will be drilled. When you start to re-assemble all the parts make sure that the uprights which are to be welded to the baseplate are aligned. The stator is also needed to be aligned inside the rotor by aligning and moving the shaft. Finally tighten the screws and the bearing on the shaft when everything is aligned in the correct place.
These are just some of the easy ways you need to remember to consider when you decide to know about how to build a permanent magnet alternator in order for you to have an alternative source of energy which is very affordable and efficient.. Having a magnet alternator doesn’t only conserve energy but it is also saving your cost and your time because you only need to assemble it once and from there it could just run without you buying some batteries.
